Garden of the Gods!
Posted on August 31, 2010 · Leave a CommentLooking for something fun to do in nature this Labor Day Weekend? Why not head south to Colorado Springs and go to the Garden of the Gods Park?
Did you know that the Garden of the Gods is the most popular park to rock climb in all of Colorado? The park is free to everyone, to rock climb you just need to be sure that you have the proper equipment. The weather should be great for climbing this weekend!
Rock climbing not your thing? Don’t worry there are plenty of walking trails with plenty to see. You can even climb on a few rocks or, bring your bike. There are 2 picnic areas in the park and you are allowed to grill.

The Garden of the Gods is about an hour and sixteen minutes away from Alexan Broadway Station.

The Perfect Summer Day in Washington Park
Posted on August 24, 2010 · Leave a CommentSummer is almost over! But before Denver turns into a fridge, I am determined to spend as much time in next door Washington Park. Washington Park is the best park in Denver, it is huge and there is always something to go there.Best of all, it is less than a mile from Alexan Broadway Station. Plus it is unrivaled for people watching.
If I could pick a perfect Saturday to spend in the park, I would slick some sunscreen on, pack a picnic and spend it like this.
Morning reading on a park bench in front of one of the lakes. So relaxing.
Meet some friends for lunch and a picnic, walk or rollerblade around for awhile.
Then I would partake in some volleyball.
Yep, this is my plan for Saturday, how do you like to enjoy Washington Park Alexan Broadway Station Residents?

$10 All You Can Ride.
Posted on August 20, 2010 · Leave a CommentIt is that time of year again, the Colorado State Fair is coming back to Pueblo. I love when the fair comes to town, it is my chance to eat all the really unhealthy things I loved as a kid. Fried Twinkies anyone? And, who can forget the rides?
But, going to the fair can really add up, what with admission and then the individual ride tickets. But, if you go the day before opening day on August 26th, after 5pm, you can get free admission and all you can ride pass for only $10.00. Of course it will be crowded, but it will still be a great time and is a great alternative to spending all that cash.
The Colorado State Fair starts on August 27th and runs until September 6th. The Fair takes place at the Colorado State Fairgrounds; located at 1001 Beulah Avenue in Pueblo. Alexan Broadway Station is located about 2 hours away from the Colorado State Fair.Image via Wikipedia

Oh Barracuda!
Posted on August 17, 2010 · Leave a CommentHeart is coming to Denver this month. The ultimate girl rockers will be playing the Paramount on August 26th at 8pm. While their heyday was in the 70’s, these ladies can still rock with the best of them.
You might know their hits, “Magic Man“, ” Crazy On You” and of course “Barracuda“. Heart was formed by sisters Ann and Nancy. Ann is the singer, who has one of the greatest voices of rock ever and Nancy is not bad on lead guitar either.
Great seats are still available! Tickets start at 45.00.
The Paramount is located at 1621 Glenarm Place. About 9 minutes from Alexan Broadway Station.

What Will You Watch This Weekend?
Posted on August 11, 2010 · Leave a CommentThis summer has been kind of disappointing for both movie goers and studio’s alike. I can not remember a time when there were so few movies I wanted to see. Maybe this weekend is a start of a new trend? Eat Play Love, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and the Expendables comes out this Friday.
The Expendables is an action movie with everyone in it. Literally, everyone who has been in a certain type of action movie is in this film. Including Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Eat Pray Love is based on the novel by Elizabeth Gilbert. It stars Julia Roberts as Liz, a woman who decides that her life needs a new direction, so she travels to 3 very distinct places to find herself.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is based on the graphic novel, and the film is part of that new graphic novel feel movie. It stars Michael Cera as the title character.

Molly Brown House
Posted on August 9, 2010 · Leave a CommentI was watching Titanic the other day, (I have been on a Leo kick ever since seeing Inception.) and I was struck by Kathy Bates portrayal of the Unsinkable Molly Brown. A local Denver historical figure. It has been years since I have been to the Molly Brown House, but, I think it might time for another visit.
Did you know that Molly Brown was born Margaret Tobin and that her friends called her Maggie not Molly during her lifetime? She married JJ Brown and he later made a fortune in the mining business. She is called Unsinkable, because she made her lifeboat (Number 6) turn around to see if there were more survivors when the ship sank.
The Museum is located at 1340 Pennsylvania Street, Denver, CO 80203. It is open from 10am to 3:30pm. It is only 8 dollars for Adults.

Biker Jim’s Gourmet Dogs
Posted on August 5, 2010 · Leave a CommentWho doesn’t like a good hot dog? Okay, probably a lot of people, but I really like them and Biker Jim’s has some great ones. This local Denver Business was very recently on Antony Bourdain’s “No Reservations” show. So you know, if it is backed by the Bourdain, it has to be good.
Now, these aren’t your normal dogs, of course they have a Colorado flair, my favorite is the Elk Jalapeno Cheddar Brat. It is huge and you can get it with cream cheese and onions on top! So delicious and such a great deal! Jim also couldn’t be nicer.
The Stand is located at Located at 16th Street and Arapahoe on Downtown Denver’s 16th Street Mall.
